Our crew has been very busy this summer doing renovations on a couple of our properties. One of our biggest goals within the company is preserve the history of Chestnut Hill. Over the past 40 years we have acquired and saved properties that might have otherwise deteriorated with the intention of renting them out as apartments or business space. Many of the properties we offer are located directly on Germantown Ave, in the heart of Chestnut Hill. Our tenants like the fact that they can walk to do most of their errands and shop in their favorite shops. The reason why many businesses choose Chestnut Hill is because of it’s beauty, walkability and great clientele.  The unique, historic buildings are a significant reason why this area has seen such growth. It’s so important to maintain these buildings so they can be used for generations to come. We want this area to continue to thrive and grow as one of the most desired areas to live in Philadelphia and that is why we put so much effort into restoring and renovating buildings in Chestnut Hill.

One of our biggest projects that we are working on right now is 101 Bethlehem Pike which will serve as a small commercial space on the first floor and a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the 2nd and 3rd floor. This was a major restoration for Bowman with the history of the building dating back to the late 1800’s. The property will have a gorgeous open flow kitchen with a living area that leads out to a deck as well as a 2nd floor master bedroom with en suite, followed by two decent sized bedrooms on the third floor with an additional bathroom. It is located directly across from the beginning of the Chestnut Hill East Septa line, this apartment has an ideal location with quaint residential charm while being just two blocks from the premiere shops and businesses along Germantown Avenue. Additional features are a rooftop deck, central A/C, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and in-unit laundry. This project requires a great deal of carpentry and painting skills from our Bowman team. When we start a project like this we decide what we want to do with the space and move forward with an architect creating a floorplan. We also hire outside contractors to complete the job including electricians, plumbers, and HVAC workers. It is definitely a team effort and our head of operations, Matt Spector, as well as Eric Graber, our crew leader, put a lot of thought and planning into making the restoration happen.

It always feels so great to see a huge project like this great completed. It often feels like we are on our Home Improvement reality show in Chestnut Hill.   Everyone on the Bowman team has a role in making it all come together. It really is a group effort to make progress in our buildings and we are excited to share with you our renovation progress as well as the final result.
